Even if the stairs are fully finished you can get an approximate reading of the stairs thickness by measuring the distance from the top of the riser to the top of the finish flooring. Retailing from around 2 90 per square foot harris wood flooring is a good mid range choice. More layers provides greater stability. Sometimes the top of a staircase has an unfinished opening that permits a cross section view of the entire floor.

Most of the flooring from harris wood has a top layer of around 2mm which makes it a good option if you re on a tight budget but still want a floor that will last a while. However the end result is less than impressive when compared to a real wood floor. Made from three different layers including a solid oak top layer this flooring is incredibly hardwearing and stable. Made up of layers of ply topped with a solid wood lamella or top layer engineered wood flooring is highly resistant to expansion and contraction even when exposed to pretty extreme fluctuations in temperature and moisture.

Complete with the texture feeling and strength of an actual hardwood floor. How thick is the hardwood veneer. Fitting was relatively easy but you definately need 2 people and a 3rd on standby to help out for a standard 4x4 room to elaborate you need to fit each.

Laminate is cheaper when bought in bulk though which is a consideration factor. The top layer though is actual hardwood. The top layer of hardwood also known as the hardwood veneer ranges in thickness from 0 5 mm to upwards of 6 mm. This top layer is what you ll see once the flooring is installed and is commonly referred to as a wear layer one may choose engineered over solid hardwood flooring because the cross layers of engineered flooring allow this type of hardwood construction the ability to be installed in more areas of the home including below grade levels basements and over radiant heat.

Some options have as many as five to seven layers.
